Torture is banned because it is cruel and
inhumane. But as Professor Shane O’Mara (Doctorate: Oxford) writes in this
account of the human brain under stress, another reason torture should never
be condoned is because it does not work the way torturers assume it does.

Why Torture Doesn’t Work

College, Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University.

Fact One: To recall information stored in the
brain, you must activate a number of areas, especially the prefrontal cortex
(site of intentionality) and hippocampus (the door to long-term memory storage).
Fact Two: Stress such as that caused by torture releases the hormone cortisol, which can impair cognitive function,
including that of the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus.
Studies in which soldiers were subjected to stress in the form of food and sleep
deprivation have found that it impaired their ability to recall personal
memories and information, as this 2006 study reported. "Studies of extreme stress with
Special Forces Soldiers have found that recall of previously-learned information
was impaired after stress occurred," notes Dr. Shane O'Mara (Doctorate: Oxford,
Professor Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience):
"Water-boarding in particular is an extreme stressor and has the potential to
elicit widespread stress-induced changes in the brain."

According to a new review of neuroscientific research, coercive interrogation techniques used during the Bush administration to extract information from terrorist suspects are likely to have been unsuccessful and may have had many unintended negative effects on the suspect's memory and brain functions. http://www.sciencedaily.com/rele.../2009/09/090921134656.htm

Trump needs to recant his support of torture if he wants my vote.
Painless interrogation techniques exist to get the truth from a suspect, such as monitoring of P300 brain waves by EEG. Dr. Larry Farwell (PhD U. Indiana, BS Harvard) invented a system to measure the unfakeable "Recognition Response" to evidence, ruled acceptable in court cases.

I spent a lot of time and money supporting Trump, and he comes up with this dick cheney crap?
I will not vote a person who condones criminal activity especially with no scientific basis.
Torture endangers our Troops by giving enemies the "justification" to torture in return..
Next topic: Ask Trump to stop threatening lives of innocent
relatives of terrorists
The women in Arab countries have little control over the men in their families.
Trump's threats breed and justify terrorists to fight the "evil" America.
Americans are not evil and have high moral values to not harm innocents.
